Early Life:

Salman Khan was born on December 27, 1965 to father Salim Khan and mother Salma in Indore city of Madhya Pradesh. His mother was a Brahmin before but after marriage converted to Islam. Her maiden name was Sushila Charak. He has two younger brothers Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan and two sisters Alvira and Arpita. Arbaaz is also an actor while Sohail is a filmmaker.

Salman studied at Scindia School in Gwalior but only for few years and finished his schooling from St. Stanislaus High School in Bandra, Mumbai.

Bollywood Career:

Salman Khan started his career in Biwi Ho to Aisi (1998) as a supporting actor. He claimed his first lead role in Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) that made him a star in one night. He won the Best Debut Actor award but missed the Best Actor Award.
His second film was Baaghi: A Rebel of Love (1990) followed by Pathar Ke Phool (1991), Sanam Bewafa (1991) and Saajan (1991). All were blockbuster hits and Salman’s role was highly appreciated.

1994-95 season saw him perform two of his most powerful roles in two different genre films. While Hum Apke Hain Kaun (1994) was a romantic drama where he played Prem Niwas alongside Madhuri Dixit, Karan Arjun (1995) saw him play one of the two brothers being killed by the enemy and incarnated to take revenge.

He then changed his genre and starred in comedy flicks Judwaa (1997), Andazz Apna Apna (1994), Pyar Kiya to Darna Kya (1998) and Hello Brother (1999). His comedy skills were also appreciated.

Then in 1999 he played lead role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam that won him another nomination for Best Actor.

From 2009-2011 he gave three hits starting from Wanted (2009) alongside Aisha Takia, then Dabangg (2010) as Chulbul Pandey and Ready (2011) as Prem.

Controversies:

Controversies hit Salman Khan post 2000 when he was arrested in case of rash and negligent driving in 2002. Then he faced 1 year imprisonment for hunting endangers Deer named Chinkara. That case lasted for more than 1 year between which he was put under police remand, granted 5 year jail term but bailed out of it all on August 31, 2007
